The Pani lab pursues curiosity-driven research exploring the cell biological foundations of development, homeostasis, and regeneration. We use in vivo imaging, genome engineering, and genetic approaches to understand how cells communicate to build animals. We seek to understand how signaling molecules move between cells, how cells interpret dynamic extracellular cues, and how integrated organ systems develop.
